Only five of these eight lineages belong to theEumycetozoa. These are the protosporangiids, protosteliids, soliformoviids,cavosteliids, and schizoplasmodiids (Shadwick et al., 2009).
The (translingual) family name differs depending on whether one wishes to treat its members asanimals (in which case the-idae suffix is used) orsomething else (when-aceae is used). Thus, and in reflection of the difficulty classifying the family, it is sometimes calledCavosteliaceae.
