This root usually has the meaning "to make", except in the stative and causative derivativesberbuat andperbuat, which has the meaning "to do". Otherwise, the meaning "to do" is supplied bylaku. Similar phenomenon also occurred in the active formmeninggal where it has the meaning "to die" instead of "to live" or "to be left", as other forms of the roottinggal do.
