• Berätta vs.säga is similar totell vs.say.
• "To tell someone something" is expressed as "att berätta något för någon" (to tell something for someone).
• Leaving out the recipient when clear is idiomatic, unlike in contemporary English: "Berätta!" means "Tell me/us/etc.!"
• Fortell in the sense oforder/direct, seesäga åt andsäga till.
