This creates a definition line for literal senses in otherwise figurative or idiomatic expressions.

The template should be placed in a definition line.

The order of senses should be either figurative first or literal first, choosing the most appropriate for the given instance.^[1] This notion also accords with the spirit ofWiktionary:Style guide § Definition sequence, which wants theusefulness to an average user to be the chief criterion for the order of senses.
