I dispute the third verb meaning given here. Spooning conotates "cuddling" and specifically does not conotate sex. Should this be tagged as "verification requested" or was this just someone's joke? --Connel MacKenzieTC21:56, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

Rfv-sense - I was inclined to delete this definition which contradicts thePepys quotation, now to be found underspoom. All the definitions I have found give astern wind, not aheadwind. —Saltmarsh09:17, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Currently given as: "An implement for eating or serving; a scooped utensilwhose long handle is straight, in contrast to a ladle" (my italics).
This is odd, since ladles also have straight handles. --Picapica (talk)20:21, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
