The example is funny, but should it maybe be completely un-complicated? I can't imagine seeing "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle" as an example of a simile in a real dictionary.
I agree, it's not a typical simile. It should be something like: "her smile was like sunshine", "the tree was like a crooked old man". A simile is a direct comparison, I am not even sure if the example is one. In it, "like" means something like "to the same extent as...".Orlando098 (talk)22:34, 28 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
