No certain cognates outside of Germanic and not found in Gothic, which has instead similar verbal nouns without -g-.Perhaps cognate with Latin suffixes-undus(forms the gerund) orAncient Greek-δᾰπός(-dăpós) (fromProto-Indo-European*-n̥kʷos) as inἀλλοδαπός(allodapós),ποδαπός(podapós), and possiblyLatinpropinquus.
