Official government use in Guyana, for example theMinister of Amerindian Affairs; cf. also theEncyclopaedia of the Guyanese Amerindians. Uncommon in North America, whereFirst Nations/Indigenous person (Canada) andNative American/Indian (United States) are more common, although the French equivalentamérindiens is commonly used in French Canada to mean North American Indians, as well as in France.
