Etymology

Compound of(atama,head;start) +‎(taka,high) +‎(kata,form), in reference to the firstmora of the word (the "head") having the highest pitch.[1] Thetaka changes todaka as an instance ofrendaku ((れん)(だく)), and similarly thekata changes togata as an instance ofrendaku ((れん)(だく)).
