When used as aradical component on the left, JapaneseKanji and KoreanHanja use a compressed form of 糸 (with on the bottom, but the centre stroke in 小 is written as without the bottom hook), which is also the historical form found in theKangxi dictionary. Intraditional Chinese and Vietnamesechữ Hán, the standard written form of the radical is (with three dots on the bottom), while insimplified Chinese the radical is written.
