FromProto-Hellenic*lewotrón, whence alsoMycenaean Greek𐀩𐀺𐀵𐀫(re-wo-to-ro/⁠lewotrón⁠/), fromProto-Indo-European*léwh₃trom(that which is used for washing), from*lewh₃-(to wash, bathe); see there for further cognates. Equivalent toλούω(loúō) +‎-τρον(-tron).
