ƞ
- (IPA, withdrawn)asyllabic/moraicnasal consonant
- Synonym:N
- (phonetics)Alternative form ofŋ.
This retired symbol had been adopted specifically to transcribe the Japanese nasalsyllable coda⟨ん⟩, but has also been used for undefined nasal codas in other languages, such as Spanish. It has no defined sound other than being nasal. Rather, it is typically ahomorganic nasal when preceding a consonant, and often indicatesvowel nasalization when not.
