Frederick "Fred" Moore Vinson (January 22,1890September 8,1953) was an American politician who served theUnited Statesin all three branches of government and was the most prominent member of theVinson political family. In thelegislative branch, he was an elected member of theUnited States House of Representatives fromLouisa, Kentucky, for twelve years. In theexecutive branch, he wasSecretary of the Treasury under PresidentHarry S. Truman. In thejudicial branch, President Truman appointed Vinson the 13thChief Justice of the United States in 1946.
