Zulianos Fútbol Club was a professionalsoccer team fromVenezuela. Its headquarters were initially in the city ofMaracaibo.
Zulianos Fútbol Club was founded in 1999 when the teamNueva Cádiz FC moved fromCumaná toMaracaibo.Nueva Cádiz FC had been crowned champion of the1998-99 Venezuelan Segunda Division season, which allowed Zulianos FC to play in theVenezuelan Primera Division for the following season. Among the standout players of that first season wasJuan Arango, who would only stay with the team for one year. For the1999-00 Venezuelan Primera División season, the team was relegated to theVenezuelan Segunda Division, after finishing in last place in the Western Group with only 9 points in 14 matches.[1]
For the following season (2001-02), the team once again achieved promotion to the top category; however, the club decided to make an agreement withUnión Atlético Maracaibo for them to take the team's place in the first division. At that time, the club's headquarters was moved toLagunillas.[2]
Their last season in Venezuelan football was the2002-03 Venezuelan Segunda Division where the franchise returned toCumaná, and was renamedNueva Cádiz FC.[3]This club is related to Zulianos B.C. or Zulianos Baseball Club.
