TheZojirushi Corporation (象印マホービン株式会社,Zōjirushi Mahōbin Kabushiki-gaisha) is a Japanesemultinationalmanufacturer andmarketer ofvacuum flasks, beverage dispensers, thermos-style lunch jars, andconsumer electronics includingrice cookers,electric water boilers,hot plates,bread machines,electric kettles, andhot water dispensers. It has a branch inSouth Korea andsubsidiary companies inTaiwan,China,Hong Kong, and theUnited States. Zojirushi is listed on theTokyo Stock Exchange.[2]
The company was founded in 1918 as the Ichikawa Brothers Trading Company inOsaka and in 1948 was changed to Kyowa Manufacturing Co., Ltd. In 1961, its name was changed again from Kyowa Manufacturing Co., Ltd to the Zojirushi Corporation and its corporate logo, including anelephant (象,zō) (Zōjirushi means "elephant mark"), was adopted.[3]
Some Zojirushirice cooker models include a coating ofSumiflon (スミフロン), a self-cleaningfluoropolymer-aluminiumcomposite developed bySumitomo Electric.
