Zhang Wei (Chinese:张尉, born 2 December 1977) is a formerChinesebadminton player. Zhang was selected to join thenational team in 1997. He played in the men's doubles event partnered withZhang Jun. He participated in four consecutiveSudirman Cup, winning 3 gold medals in1999,2001,2005, and a silver medal in2003.[1] He and Zhang Jun was qualified to compete at the2000 Summer Olympics, but because of the injury on his left abdominal muscles while doing the exercises, he missed the event.[2] He retired from the national team in 2005, and started to playing inDenmark. He returned toShanghai in 2007, and star coaching the Shanghai team. He also competed for Shanghai at the2009 National Games.[3]
