Zaozerne (Ukrainian:Заозерне;Russian:Заозёрное,romanized: Zaozyornoye;Crimean Tatar:Yalı Moynaq) is anurban-type settlement in theYevpatoria municipality of theAutonomous Republic of Crimea, a territory recognized by a majority of countries as part ofUkraine and incorporated byRussia as theRepublic of Crimea.[2] Population:4,332 (2014 Census);[3] 4,161 as of the2001 Ukrainian Census,[2] and 4,940 in 2011.[4]
Until 1948, the settlement was known by its native Crimean tatar nameYaly-Moinak (Ukrainian:Яли-Мойнак;Crimean Tatar:Yalı Moynaq). Its current name is a literally translated as "beyond the lake." It was granted the status of an urban-type settlement in 1973.[2]
