Zalongo (Greek:Ζάλογγο) is a former municipality in thePreveza regional unit,Epirus,Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipalityPreveza, of which it is a municipal unit.[2] The municipal unit has an area of 137.631 km2.[3] Population 3,986 (2021). The seat of the municipality was inKanali. Nearby is the 18th century Zalongo Monastery, immortalized by thedefiant mass suicide of a group ofSouliot women. The ruins of ancientCassope are situated near the villageKamarina.
