Zak Evans (born 26 March 2000) is a professionalAustralian rules footballer who currently plays for theGold Coast Suns in theAustralian Football League (AFL). He previously playedfirst-class andList A cricket forVictoria, and played in theBig Bash League for theMelbourne Renegades.[2]

Evans made hisTwenty20 debut on 27 January 2020, for theMelbourne Renegades in the2019–20 Big Bash League season.[3] Prior to his T20 debut, he was named in Australia's squad for the2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.[4] He made hisfirst-class debut on 30 October 2020, for Victoria in the2020–21 Sheffield Shield season.[5] He made hisList A debut on 15 January 2021, for Victoria in the2020–21 Marsh One-Day Cup.[6]

Evans was delisted from Victoria's contract list ahead of the 2023-24 season.[7] Evans spent the winter playing club cricket inEssex in the hope of pushing for more Sheffield Shield opportunities the following season despite the loss of his contract,[8] however these opportunities were not forthcoming.

AFL career

Following the end of his professional cricket career, Evans was signed by theGold Coast Suns as a Category B rookie to play in theAustralian Football League (AFL) for the2025 season.[9] Evans had played junior football before committing to pursuing a career in cricket, with his last competitive football match being in 2018 while playing forXavier College.
