Zabdicene

Zabdicene (Armenian:Ծաւդէք or Զաւդէք,romanizedTsawdēk' or Zawdēk';Greek:Ζαβδικηνή,romanizedZavdikene;Latin:Zabdiccena;Classical Syriac:Zawdai) was aCarduchian[1] principality inAnatolia, in today'sTurkey. It was located west ofAke, southwest ofAnjewaci and north ofAdiabene.

Bezabde andPhinika (Pinaka, Finik, Φοινίκη inGreek) were located in Zabdicene.[2]In 363, Zabdicene and its cities and fortresses were ceded to theSasanian Empire.[2] The principality declined by the mid-fifth century. SaintBabai the Great was born in the village of Beth Ainata in the region in 551.
