Zózimo Alves Calazans,[1] best known asZózimo (19 June 1932 – 21 July 1977) was a Brazilianfootballer whose career as adefender andmidfielder lasted from 1948 to 1967.
Born in Plataforma, abairro ofSalvador, the capital ofBahia, Zózimo played for Brazil'sSão Cristóvão,Bangu,Flamengo,Portuguesa and Esportiva de Guarantinguetá, as well asPeru'sSport Boys inCallao andEl Salvador'sClub Deportivo Águila inSan Miguel. He won oneRio de Janeiro State Championship in 1965 and was a two-time winner for theBrazilian team at theFIFA World Cup in1958 and1962. He was also part of Brazil's squad for the1952 Summer Olympics.[3] In his 19-year career he earned a reputation as one of Brazil's most highly skilled players.
Four weeks after his 45th birthday, Zózimo died in a road accident inRio de Janeiro.[2]
