Youssef Ramalho Chermiti (born 24 May 2004) is a Portuguese professionalfootballer who plays as aforward forScottish Premiership clubRangers.
Chermiti is a youth product of Os Marienses, ACF Pauleta, and GD São Pedro, before moving to the youth academy ofSporting CP in 2016.[3]
On 22 July 2020, Chermiti signed his first professional contract with Sporting for three seasons.[4] He was promoted to theirB-team in 2021, but was sidelined with injuries for eight months before training with the senior team in November 2022.[5]
Chermiti made his debut for Sporting's main team on 15 January 2023, coming off the bench to replacePaulinho in the 78th minute of a 2–2Primeira Liga draw away atlocal rivalsBenfica.[6][7] On 1 February, he made his first start for the side, playing the full match in a 5–0 home victory overBraga.[8] Five days later, Chermiti scored his first goal for Sporting and first Primeira Liga goal, in a 1–0 away victory overRio Ave.[9] Six days later, he once again started in the league, at home torivalsPorto, scoring a late consolation goal in a 2–1 loss.[10] After the match, Porto's managerSérgio Conceição congratulated Chermiti on his performance, describing him as a "youngster with a lot of quality" during the post-match press conference.[11] Four days later, he made his debut inEuropean competitions, coming on as asubstitute for the final minutes of a 1–1 draw at home toMidtjylland in theknockout round play-offs of theUEFA Europa League.[12] In the2022–23 season, Chermiti made 22 appearances in all competitions for Sporting CP, scoring three goals and providing two assists.[13]
On 11 August 2023, Chermiti signed a four-year contract withPremier League clubEverton,[14] for a fee of £11.5 million, which could rise to £14 million with add-ons. Sporting CP are also owed 12.5% of any profit Everton receive from a future transfer of the player.[15]
Chermiti made his debut for Everton on 26 August, coming off the bench in the 66th minute to replaceLewis Dobbin in a 1–0 league loss toWolverhampton Wanderers atGoodison Park.[16] Four days later, he made his first start for the club in anEFL Cup match away atDoncaster Rovers; at half-time, with theToffees losing 1–0 to theLeague Two side, Chermiti was replaced by compatriotBeto, who went on to score the equaliser; Everton ended up achieving a 2–1 comeback win.[17] On 7 November 2023, Chermiti started forEverton U21s in anEFL Trophygroup stage match againstMansfield Town, scoring the only goal of the game through anextra-timepenalty.[18]
On 1 September 2025, Chermiti moved toScottish Premiership clubRangers in a deal worth £10m.[19]
He is a youth international for Portugal, having played up to thePortugal U19s.[20]
On 21 November 2023, after representingPortugal U20 in a 2–1 loss in afriendly againstItaly U20, Chermiti denounced on social media that an opponent hadracially abused him during the match.[21]
Chermiti was born in Azores, Santa Maria in Portugal to a Tunisian-French father and Bissau-Guinean mother. Chermiti holds Tunisian, French and Bissau-Guinean citizenship.[3] Chermiti is the cousin of the Tunisian footballerAmine Chermiti.[22]
