Yoshinori Kobayashi (Japanese:小林 よしのり or 小林 善範,Hepburn:Kobayashi Yoshinori; born August 31, 1953) is a Japanesemanga artist known for his far-right political commentary mangaGōmanism Sengen. In particular, the three volumesOn War (Sensōron) of this series made him famous in Japan, together selling more than 1.5 million volumes since first appearing in 1998.[1]

A student ofFrench literature fromFukuoka University, Kobayashi published his first manga,Tōdai Itchokusen, in 1976 inWeekly Shōnen Jump while still in school. Another of his early series,Obocchama-kun, asatire about a naughty rich boy in the heyday ofJapan's bubble economy, won the 1989Shogakukan Manga Award forchildren's manga.[2]
Kobayashi was included onAum Shinrikyo's assassination list after he began satirising the cult. An assassination attempt was made on him by the members of the cult in 1993.[3]
Kobayashi is a denier of both theNanjing Massacre and of thecomfort women system during World War II.[4]
