Yorkshire Hotel, also known asYorkshire Apartments[2] andJ. D. Hooker Building,[3] is a historic six-story building located at 710-714 S.Broadway in theBroadway Theater District in thehistoric core ofdowntown Los Angeles.
Yorkshire Hotel was designed byParkinson andBergstrom, the architectural duo responsible for many buildings onBroadway, includingBullock's Building,Trustee Building,Metropolitan Building, andBroadway Mart Center.[1] Completed in 1909, the building was originally a hotel and cafeteria,[3] and was converted tohousing andretail in 1972.[2][4]
In 1979, theBroadway Theater and Commercial District was added to theNational Register of Historic Places, with Yorkshire Hotel listed as acontributing property in the district.[1]
The building was sold for $12.2 million in 2022 ($13.1 million in2024).[4]
Yorkshire Hotel is made ofsteel reinforcedbrick andconcrete and has apressed brick,terra cotta,tile, andornamentalironfacade. The building featurescornice andarched windows.[1][3]
