Yeongnam (Korean: 영남,Korean pronunciation:[jʌŋ.nam]; literally "south of the ridge") is a region that coincides with the formerGyeongsang Province, one of the ancientEight Provinces, in what is nowSouth Korea.
The region includes the modern-day provinces ofNorth andSouth Gyeongsang and the autonomousMetropolitan cities ofBusan,Daegu, andUlsan.[1] The regional name is used (with a slightly different spelling) as the name ofYeungnam University.
