Yecuatla is amunicipality located in the north zone in theMexican state ofVeracruz, about 40 km from the state capitalXalapa. It has a surface of 135.72 km2. It is located at19°52′N96°47′W / 19.867°N 96.783°W /19.867; -96.783.
The name comes from the language Náhuatl, Yec-uauh-tlan; that means “Place of three snakes ".
The municipality of Yecuatla is bordered to the north-east byColipa, to the south byChiconquiaco, to the west byMisantla and to the north-west byColipa.[1]
The climate in Yecuatla is warm-regular with an average temperature of 22.5°C, with rains in summer and autumn.
It produces principallymaize,bean,green chile,orange fruit andcoffee.
Every Augusts, a festival is held to celebrate Virgen de la Asunción, patron of the town and in December there is a festival held in honor of theVirgin of Guadalupe.
