Yanko Shire was alocal government area in theRiverina region ofNew South Wales, Australia.
Yanko Shire was proclaimed on 7 March 1906.[1] On 6 January 1928, Willimbong Shire (later renamedLeeton Shire) was excised from its territory as per the provisions of theIrrigation Act 1912.[2]
Yanko Shire shared an administration office with theMunicipality of Narrandera.[3]
The shire was amalgamated with the Municipality of Narrandera on 1 January 1960 to formNarrandera Shire.[4]
Speaking of the relations that existed between the Municipal Council and the Yanko Shire, he said that those two bodies had lived in the same building since 1906, when the Yanko Shire Council came into existence
