Yahotyn (Ukrainian:Яготин,IPA:[jɐɦoˈtɪn]ⓘ) is a city inBoryspil Raion,Kyiv Oblast (region) ofUkraine. It hosts the administration ofYahotyn urban hromada, one of thehromadas of Ukraine.[1] In 2001, population was 23,659. The current population is18,995 (2022 estimate).[2]
Until 18 July 2020, Yahotyn was the administrative center ofYahotyn Raion. The raion was abolished that day as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Kyiv Oblast to seven. The area of Yahotyn Raion was merged into Boryspil Raion.[3][4]
The village ofDvirkivshchyna in Boryspil Raion is birthplace to famous football playerAndriy Shevchenko, who attended sports-school in Yahotyn.
