Yaacob bin Abdul Latiff (1 February 1918[1][2] – 9 September 1985[3]) was the second Mayor ofKuala Lumpur,[4]Malaysia since it was officially conferred the status of the city on 16 May 1972. He served for a period of 8 years. On 1 November 1980, he was succeeded byElyas Omar.[5]
His son, Ibrahim Yaacob wasParti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate forSetiawangsa'sparliamentary constituency during the2008 General Election in Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory. He lost toBarisan Nasional (BN) candidate,Zulhasnan Rafique in the election.[citation needed]
