Xuanwei (Chinese:宣威;pinyin:Xuānwēi) is acounty-level city in the northeast ofYunnan Province, China, borderingGuizhou province to the north and east. It is under the administration of theprefecture-level city ofQujing.

Geography

Xuanwei is located in northeastern Yunnan. It bordersPanzhou,Guizhou to the east,Zhanyi District andFuyuan County, Yunnan to the south,Huize County across the Niulan River to the west, andWeining County andShuicheng District, Guizhou to the north.

Demographics

The population of Xuanwei is predominantlyHan, with the ethnic minority population comprising members of theYi,Zhuang,Miao, andHui ethnic groups.[2]

Food

It is famous as the origin ofXuanwei ham, which is ham that is dry-cured.
