Classes

Xenocarida (from theGreek forstrange shrimp) is a proposedclade inside thesubphylumCrustacea that comprises two classes that were discovered in the 20th century:Remipedia andCephalocarida. Both groups are marine hermaphrodites.[1][2] The clade was recovered as the sister groups toHexapoda (includinginsects).[3]

However, other studies do not recover Xenocarida as a monophyletic group[4][5] and variously findBranchiopoda orRemipedia as the hexapod sister group[6][7][4][5]
