On July 12, 2007, Creed defeated Murder-One in a tournament finals to win the vacantDSW Heavyweight Champion, becoming the first wrestler to hold the title without the company being affiliated with WWE; the company closed its doors the following October 11, making Creed the final DSW Heavyweight Champion.[13]
