XLfit is aMicrosoft Excel add-in that can performregression analysis, curve fitting, andstatistical analysis. It is approved by theUK National Physical Laboratory and theUS National Institute of Standards and Technology[1] XLfit can generate2D and3D graphs and analyze data sets. XLfit can also analyse the statistical data. It includes over seventy linear and non-linear curve fitting models.[2] Predefined categories include:
A range ofstatistical calculations can also be applied to the data from within thespreadsheet. Example statistics include:[further explanation needed]
Available statistical models includeSpearman's rank correlations,Student'st-test,Mann–WhitneyU test, least squares, andANOVA, among others.[citation needed] A model editor also allows users to add their own models and statistics to the ones provided.
XLfit was validated by The UK National Physical Laboratory[3] in 2004; the unit tests for this are provided in the model editor from version 5.4 onwards to allow each version to be easily validated.
XLfit was used byNASA to analyze the battery life of theCuriosity Mars Lander.[4]
