TheWuhan Jinyintan Hospital (Chinese:武汉市金银潭医院) is a municipal public hospital located on Jinyintan Avenue in theJiangjunlu Subdistrict, in theDongxihu District ofWuhan,Hubei,China, and a unit directly under the Wuhan Municipal Health and Health Committee.[1] Jinyintan Hospital specialises ininfectious diseases.[2][3][4] Jinyintan Hospital is one of the designated hospitals for emergency medical treatment in Hubei, including Wuhan.[5][6][7] The hospital's president is Dr. Zhang Dingyu, arespiratory specialist.[8][9] Its vice-director is Dr. Huang Chaolin.[7]
At the start of theCOVID-19 pandemic in China, many of those infected were treated here, including some of the first COVID-19 patients.[2][10] The hospital saw 170 people withpneumonia symptoms by January 23, 2020, and nearly 500 COVID-19 patients at the peak of the pandemic in Wuhan.[11][8] In January 2020, a group of researchers at the hospital published a paper in which they said they were concerned that the virus had "acquired the ability for efficienthuman transmission".[12]
