Wonkwang University (Korean: 원광대학교) is auniversity located inIksan,South Korea. Founded as Youilhakrim (Korean: 유일학림) in 1946, it is one of the few academies affiliated withWon Buddhism. Yuilhakrim was succeeded by Wonkwang Junior College (Korean: 원광초급대학) on 5 November 1951, and gained college status on 29 January 1953. The Postgraduate School was opened in 1967, and in 1971 it gaineduniversity status.[1]
The university is known for its diverse medical courses:western medicine,dentistry,Korean medicine andpharmacy. Beside medical courses, the school is well known for its specialised courses such aspolice administration,fire service administration, andlaw school.[2]
Wonkwang University is one of only two schools inSouth Korea that have courses forantiques restoration.
