TheWomen's T20 World Cup Qualifier (until 2018, theWomen's World Twenty20 Qualifier) is an internationalcricket tournament that serves as the final step of the qualification process for theWomen's T20 World Cup.
The qualifier was held for the first timein 2013, with the top three teams qualifying for the World Cup.[1] The first five editions have featured eight teams, determined by a combination ofinternational rankings, previous World Cup results, and regional qualifiers, with the top two teams qualifying for the World Cup. For the2024 tournament the number of teams was increased to ten.[2]
Bangladesh have won the tournament on three occasions, winning consecutively in2018,2019 and2022. The first tournament was shared byPakistan andSri Lanka when the rain-affected final ended in ano result, whileIreland won the2015 tournament.[3]Thailand was the only other team to qualify for a World Cup via the qualifier, having finished runner-up to Bangladesh in 2019.
