Wit FM is a French localradio station, based inBègles nearBordeaux, created in 1988 and owned bySud Radio Groupe.
In June 1988, Wit FM was created inBordeaux, byJean-Louis Marin, former journalist ofRMC and a member of theSud Radio team. Wit FM took over the defunct frequencies of theParisian radio stationHit FM, they have chosen a similar name to that of the Hit FM station in order to keep its predecessor's listeners. Sometime later, the station was acquired byClaude Bez, president of the sports clubGirondins de Bordeaux.[1]
In 1989, Wit FM is sold for 75% to Sud Radio.
In 2006, the radio station along withSud Radio was bought by theOrléans-based groupStart, which renamed it toSud Radio Groupe in 2010.
