Wilhelmus Antoniusvan de Kerkhof (Dutch pronunciation:[ʋɪlˈɦɛlmʏsɑnˈtoːnijəsˈʋɪlivɑndəˈkɛr(ə)kɦɔf]; born 16 September 1951) is a Dutch former professionalfootballer who played as amidfielder.
Van de Kerkhof and his twin brotherRené were squad members of theNetherlands national team that made theWorld Cup final in1974 and became key players in the team that made the1978 final. He also played for the Netherlands at theEuro 1976 andEuro 1980. Overall, van de Kerkhof appeared 63 times for his national team, scoring five goals.[1]
He was named byPelé as one of thetop 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004.[2]
