William Berton was anEnglish medieval collegeFellow and universityChancellor.[1]
Berton was a Fellow ofMerton College, Oxford and twiceChancellor of theUniversity of Oxford during 1379–81 and 1382.[2] He was aDoctor of Divinity.[3] The controversy surrounding the theologianJohn Wycliffe concerning thesacrament was current at the time of Berton's Chancellorship and he gave some credence to Wycliffe's argument.[1]
