American fantasy and science fiction author
Will Shetterly andEmma Bull in 1994 Will Shetterly (born 1955) is an American writer of fantasy and science fiction best known for his novelDogland (1997). The novel is inspired by his childhood at thetourist attraction Dog Land owned by his parents.[ 1] He won theMinnesota Book Award for Fantasy & Science Fiction for his novelElsewhere (1991),[ 2] and was a finalist withNevernever (1993);[ 3] both books are set inTerri Windling 'sThe Borderland Series shared universe . He has also written short stories for various Borderlandanthologies .
Shetterly is married to the authorEmma Bull . The couple lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and were both members of the writing groupThe Scribblies , which also included,Pamela Dean ,Kara Dalkey , Nate Bucklin,Patricia Wrede , andSteven Brust . Shetterly and Bull created and edited theLiavek shared universe anthologies.
Shetterly created the comic book characterCaptain Confederacy , played a small role in the filmToxic Zombies , and ran forgovernor of Minnesota in 1994 on theGrassroots Party ticket.[ 1]
In 2009, he donated his archive to the department of Rare Books and Special Collections atNorthern Illinois University .[ 4]
