Will Kimmel III (born May 11, 1988) is an Americanstock car racing driver. He is the son ofBill Kimmel, Jr. and nephew ofFrank Kimmel. He currently competes part-time in theARCA Menards Series for the family-ownedKimmel Racing. He previously competed part-time in theNASCAR Cup Series,NASCAR Xfinity Series, andNASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Kimmel began his racing career in 1998;[1] in 2006 he began competing atSalem Speedway, winning the track's Rookie of the Year award for Super Late Model drivers. The following year he won the track's championship, becoming the youngest driver to do so.[2] He made his debut in theARCA Racing Series in 2008, competing in 62 races in the series between 2008 and 2013 with a best finish of second at Salem in 2011.[3] Kimmel also won thePolar Bear 150 street-stock race atRockingham Speedway in 2010, beatingKurt Busch.[4]
In 2010, Kimmel made his debut inNASCAR competition, driving the No. 44 Ford in aCamping World Truck Series event atKentucky Speedway,[5] finishing 21st.[6] He made his first start in theNationwide Series the following year at Kentucky Speedway, driving forGo Green Racing;[7] he finished 35th after an accident.[8]
In January 2014, Kimmel announced that he would be driving forTriStar Motorsports part-time in the Nationwide Series during the2014 season, competing in five events driving the No. 44 Toyota.[9]
On May 12, 2015, Kimmel joinedGo FAS Racing for hisSprint Cup Series debut, which took place in theQuaker State 400 at Kentucky.[10] Kimmel finished in 38th, five laps behind the leaders. He then raced at Kansas for theHollywood Casino 400, and finished 39th.
