William Culvahouse Hardy (born January 21, 1988)[1] is an American professionalbasketball coach and former collegiate player who is thehead coach for theUtah Jazz of theNational Basketball Association (NBA).
After graduating fromWilliams College, Hardy was connected withSan Antonio Spurs head coachGregg Popovich through a member of the basketball staff at Williams College who was an associate of Popovich and recommended him for an internship thanks to his high basketball IQ.[2] Hardy coached the Spurs Summer League team for several years while working in other roles for the main team.[3] Before the2021–22 NBA season, Hardy joined theBoston Celtics as assistant for head coachIme Udoka.[4]
On June 29, 2022, theUtah Jazz hired Hardy as their head coach,[5] making him the first head coach hired under the new ownership ofRyan Smith.[6]
On May 5, 2025, Hardy and the Jazz agreed to a multiyear contract extension that runs through the 2031 season.[7]

Hardy is fromRichmond, Virginia.[8] He has two daughters and is engaged.[9] He runs the Will Hardy Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness foramyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) while providing aid to families affected by the disease.[10] The foundation was established in honor of his father, Bill Hardy, who died from ALS in 2015.[11]
