    Discussion about WikiProject banner templates

    [edit]

For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, thebanners for talk pages usually say something like:

There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion atWikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners.Stefen 𝕋owerHuddleHandiwerk19:40, 6 December 2025 (UTC) (on behalf of the WikiProject Council)[reply]

A reliable source worth knowing about

    [edit]

The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction is steadily publishing articles about SF-themed comics, like its newesthttps://sf-encyclopedia.com/entry/blue_beetle entry (seeBlue Beetle (comic book)). Seehttps://sf-encyclopedia.com/category/comics . New entries appear almost weekly (seems there's an active contributor working on that). I do not have time and will to use this or even add them as sources, but hopefully someone here will find this useful.Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here04:44, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Outstanding content page

    [edit]

I think we should do a major rework of theWikipedia:WikiProject Comics/Outstanding content page, given that it hasn't been updated in a few years and some of the FAs featured there (notablyAnimaniacs) have already been delisted. Thoughts?sjones23 (talk -contributions)07:59, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion about individual issues of comics

    [edit]

Something I wanted to bring up is how Wikipedia should handle individual issues of comics, pertaining specifically to American comics. In some instances, Wikipedia uses the title of the story for the articles itself like "For the Man Who Has Everything" fromSuperman or "This Man... This Monster!" fromFantastic Four.

However, in at least two instance I'm aware of, the pages for the individual issues are the title of the comic series itself and issue number; the two examples beingThe Amazing Spider-Man #129 andUncanny X-Men #94. Now, in the case of individual issues from anthology series, such as the first issue ofAction Comics or the 27th issue ofDetective Comics, this makes sense, as they both are comprised of a few separate stories that are present in them.

But this isn't the case with the Spider-Man and X-Men issues I cited earlier. So, my question is this: Should these two issues be changed to the title of their story, or should something like "This Man... This Monster!" be changed to "Fantastic Four #51"?PanagiotisZois (talk)16:35, 24 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

If it's the story that's notable (like "This Man... This Monster!") as opposed to the publication itself (like Detective Comics 27), I prefer the story title. That would include renamingThe Amazing Spider-Man 129 to "The Punisher Strikes Twice" and having the issue number as a redirect. With X-Men #94, I wonder whether "The Doomsmith Scenario" needs its own article as opposed to being covered as part of the legacy ofGiant-Size X-Men.Thebiguglyalien (talk)🛸16:58, 24 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Well, in the case ofDetective Comics #27, the fact that Batman's first appearance in it is just one ofmany stories the issue features is another reason to go by issue number, rather than story title. As forAmazing Spider-Man, I do agree that it should be retitled to its story title for consistency. Same goes withX-Men #94, though I have to be honest, I'm not sure that the issue is necessarily all that notable.
I mean, yes, it was the first issue in theX-Men title to feature a new story in 4 years, rather than being a reprint, and it comes right afterGiant-Size X-Men. But as you say, most attention afforded to the new X-Men team of the 1970s has to do withGiant-Size. Heck, if I remember correctly, John Proudstar doesn't even die until issue #95 or 96, so issue #94 doesn't have much going for it. Personally, I recommend renaming the former issue and redirecting the latter.PanagiotisZois (talk)19:09, 24 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed with Eisner Hall of Famers

    [edit]

I just went through and added this text to 15 of the 18 Judges Choice selection for this year's induction in theEisner Hall of Fame.In 2026, LASTNAME was selected for inclusion in the [[Eisner Hall of Fame]].<ref>{{cite news|url=https://www.comicsbeat.com/eisner-awards-hall-of-fame-inducts-18-judges-choice-creators/|website=The Beat|first=Heidi|last=MacDonald|date=January 23, 2026|title=Eisner Awards Hall of Fame inducts 18 Judges Choice creators}}</ref>

...and I'm about to put those same ones inCategory:Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame inductees (even though the induction hasn't happened yet, they're announced inductees.)

I skippedAbe Kanegson because he doesn't have a page (there's a project for someone), but I skippedOliver Harrington andDave Sim because ofconflicts of interest (major on Harrington, much more minor on Sim.) I would appreciate if others would consider if it is appropriate to add the same contact to those pages and, if so, do so. --Nat Gertler (talk)03:51, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Just added the Eisner Hall of Famers information to the Harrington and Sim pages, so those parts have been taken care of.sjones23 (talk -contributions)06:15, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
