There has been discussion about whetherAndrew Mountbatten Windsor's article should include a hatnote, templated or freetext, pointing out that his surname is the double-barrelled "Mountbatten Windsor". There exists a template{{British barrelled name}}, which has been added and removed, and I've since improved that template so that it no longer uses the strange terminology "a barrelled name" but now says "a double-barrelled name".
I know there are a lot of similar hatnotes for different forms of names, seen atCategory:Hatnote templates for names, but I can't find any mention of their use inMOS:BIO or elsewhere.WP:HATFAM links to that category, but gives no rules about when to include or not include these hatnotes. It also mentions{{Family name footnote}}, which describes itself as a "a newer, lower-emphasis method of name explanation introduced in 2020", but template documentation is not part of the MOS as far as I know.
