Editnotice change proposal

[edit]

I just noticed that theeditnotice at the top of the editing page refers content disputes to thedispute resolution noticeboard. That's a mistake: it ought to refer them to theDispute Resolution page since many disputes could be better handled through additional talk page discussion or atThird Opinion or even throughformal mediation. Are there any objections to making that change? Regards,TransporterMan (TALK)15:23, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted. That would be a useful change. My 2p. SimonIrondome (talk)15:47, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can we add links to Refdesk and IRC chat?

[edit]

It occurred to me that a great many requests for help on this page might be bettere handled in other channels:

* Request for information should go toWikipedia:Reference_desk* General assistance (e.g. how to edit, how to use a template, what kind of content is appropriate) might be better served byWikipedia:Help desk/chat which is usually well staffed during most English speaking country's daylight hours.

We have this information in thewp:helpdesk but not the confusingly similarWikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests? Would anybody object if I included this information in the header, possibly borrowing the same style from the Helpdesk? --Salimfadhley (talk)16:50, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why should anyone who is not a democrat fund Wikipedia?

[edit]

Wikipedia now refuses to allow posting of the information on Biden when the data was legally obtained and provides legally collected information. Your bias is showing and I am ashamed I ever sent money for support.— Precedingunsigned comment added by160.2.59.16 (talk)22:40, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a page to discuss the pageWikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests. How is your shame and lament related to that page? --Hoary (talk)23:13, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear editor:

[edit]

help! what on earth does this mean?

"Internet service providers frequently assign the root of a subdomain server to a directory within the master domain server root with a similar (but not necessarily identical) name"?. Example?

Wikipedia:Teahouse?

[edit]

What, I'm wondering, distinguishesWikipedia:Teahouse from this page?Butwhatdoiknow (talk)18:05, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Butwhatdoiknow, The Teahouse does not handle disputes, and doesn't push the idea of edit requests, but they probably could do them if asked. This page does do those things, and explains the purpose here:Wikipedia:Editor assistance has a list of editors willing to be contacted directly for requests (another feature not being heavily pushed by Teahouse). This page is also being discussed in the link below.Huggums537 (talk)15:30, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Consolidating help venues

[edit]

Please seeWikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#Consolidating_help_venues. Teahouse and Help Desk have both been notified some time ago as this venue was somehow overlooked.Huggums537 (talk)15:13, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, indeed. I miss this page, where I was able to do things for less experienced users that they couldn't do for themselves.Maproom (talk)06:52, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
