ThisWikiProject is an attempt to formulate a template for theFrenchcommunes and to eventually create an article for each of the 36,782 communes.
Reason for a template is the lack of structure for most of the communes articles, which usually contain some loosely organised phrases. This WikiProject tries to suggest a structure for communes articles which would make them more structured, while also giving them a common look and feel.
This article is within the scope ofWikiProject France, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage ofFrance on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, please visit the project page, where you can jointhe discussion and see a list of open tasks.FranceWikipedia:WikiProject FranceTemplate:WikiProject FranceFrance
The code for that is: {{WikiProject France|commune=yes}}
If the above is nowdeprecated in favour of the new version, can we hope that someone will design code for a bot to replace the old one with the new version?Dickie (talk)19:35, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
LizzieMack I've joined after the origianal project was complete. I'm now working on translating the commune's articles from French wikipedia so that they are no longer stubs.
GDuwen, Im working on some of this articles, so Im joining the project.
User:Buggie111, I've edited most of them on Simple, so I've decided to help out here. My goal: make one not so important (i.e. Y) a Start class article
Liam987 - I have been formatting external links to theINSEE site with{{INSEE}}, and changing descriptions like "[...]located in easternFrance" to "[...]located in easternMetropolitanFrance"
Sadenar40000 -Currently focusing on organizing the commune articles in proper expansion by translation from French Wikipedia categories, once that organization is done I intend to progressively work through said categories and translate the content of their paired French articles into English Wikipedia
See thedocumentation for instructions how to use this template, and how to copy the info box from the corresponding commune on the French wikipedia. Don't forget to add the correct region/department categories and interwiki fr: tag to the article.
Other valuable examples of infobox can be found at the following articles:
Commune articles should simply be namedCommune unless this is ambiguous with an existing Wikipedia article. In that case, they should followCommune, Département
Note to editors: a law passed at the beginning of December 2005 has extended all current mayoral mandates to March 2008 (to avoid an "electoral traffic jam" in 2007).Reference --Picapica10:19, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
