An election for chair, an internal party officer, of a state branch of a political party. Coverage is routine and local. PerWP:EVENTCRIT: "Routine kinds of news events (including most crimes, accidents, ...political news...) – whether or not tragic or widely reported at the time – are usually not notable unless something further gives them additional enduring significance."AusLondonder (talk)01:23, 13 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed PROD. A much better versionhas existed for months as a draft, but was inappropriately copy-pasted into mainspace. It was just declined a few hours ago.JTtheOG (talk)03:30, 27 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your approach represents a departure from longstanding consensus that season articles on major programs are ripe for creation once the prior seasonn ends. That consensus has been based on our desire to restrain those who would create articles two, three or more years ahead of time. It strikes a reasonable cutoff point as major programs (like Alabama) do receive subtantial in-depth coverage in the pre-season months. In your revised system, when would you propose that such articles be allowed? Spring training camp? Upon the opening of summer training camp in early August with its burst of coverage? After the first game of the season has been played? At the end of the season when all the results are complete? If we are going to depart from the longstanding consensus, perhaps there should be a RfC to see if a new consensus can be formed.Cbl62 (talk)17:14, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete then Move draft Per Frank Anchor --rogerd (talk)18:30, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep This honestly sounds like it being decided by non-college sports editors. The best chance that we have to serve as editors and fully account for the new season would be to allow editing once theNCAA transfer portal opens. Then people could keep up with the offseason changes as the news is still fresh. Once the season ends there is lots of news regarding coaching staff changes too. In order for the subject specialists to a project likeWP:CFB should be able to set its own rules. There are teams that have lost 50 or 60 players to the transfer portal (top 4 portal loss counts are 64, 54, 46 and 44 per a reliable source), responded by signing dozens of players in the transfer portal, largely changed their coaching staffs and announced regular high school class of 2026 signings. That is a $#!t ton of news that needs an article space home. When the season is over is even too late. It should be when each team's season has ended. January is a rough approximation of this date.-TonyTheTiger(T /C /WP:FOUR /WP:CHICAGO /WP:WAWARD)20:10, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    IMO, once the schedules are set and after thetransfer portal closes in January, thereby essentially finalizing the roster, there is no reason why the respective article can't be published.rogerd (talk)23:24, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    @TonyTheTiger: All those transfers (and much more info) is already available in the draft, which people have poured their hard work into. There is indeed "a $#!t ton of news", which is why we should delete this ASAP to allow for the draft to be published.JTtheOG (talk)08:06, 5 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the best version of the current article or draft per Frank Anchor and Cbl62.PK-WIKI (talk)20:12, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    @PK-WIKI: Both Frank and Cbl !voteddelete.JTtheOG (talk)08:15, 5 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Not really a difference in view. We all believe that it is not "too soon" for an article in main space and favor keeping the best version. Frank and I simply go a step further and opine that the draft-space version is the better version tht should be saved.Cbl62 (talk)14:58, 5 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Cbl did not vote delete. He is an even stronger keep than I stated because I did not think clearly about how early some teams end their season and start the offseason news cycle by firing a coach. Probably late November is a good time to start allowing content for next season articles. We need toWP:PRESERVE content from late November news and forward. I felt Keeping was the best way to preserve. I don't like deleting for draft purposes.-TonyTheTiger(T /C /WP:FOUR /WP:CHICAGO /WP:WAWARD)06:55, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    I did not vote to delete. The only aspect of deletion in my vote was to G6 the current page (as uncontroversial maintenance) to make way for the significantly better version currently in draft space. At this time, I support the presence of an article on all major 2026 college football team seasons.FrankAnchor21:23, 11 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Frank Anchor's idea: whether that's counted as "keep" or "delete", it's not too soon for an article on a 2026 sports program, and there is a longstanding practice at NPP of approving the next season for a team once the existing season is concluded (and it's a no-brainer in the case of SEC football, where there is an unbridled flow of coverage even after the season concludes. The draft should be moved to mainspace in lieu of this stub.Dclemens1971 (talk)20:30, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
