The essayWP:BFDI explains how the web seriesBattle for Dream Island had no Wikipedia article becausepopularity does not guarantee notability.
... wait, did that sentence just say, "had no Wikipedia article"?
And why is the link toBFDI blue instead of red?Hey, wait a minute!BFDI wasremoved from thetitle blacklist!Object show is a functioning redirect! Why are we allowing this non-notablefancruft on Wikipedia?!
The short answer:It's notable now. Enough independent, reliable and secondary sources have been found to meet thegeneral notability guideline; seeWikipedia:Source assessment/Battle for Dream Island. (Funnily enough, the final source actually mentions its lack of coverage in Wikipedia at the time.) Aconsensus was reached to unsalt the title and allow recreation atdeletion review, which was affirmed at asecond AfD discussion. If you want, you cango edit the article, assuming you're an autoconfirmed user. And no, the article cannot be deleted again for lack of notability becausenotability is not temporary.
So, if you're looking for an example of a popular topic that does not have a Wikipedia article, you're going to have to findsomething else.
