It is not anencyclopedic article, nor one ofWikipedia's policies or guidelines; rather, its purpose is to explain certain aspects ofWikipedia:Manual of Style/Biographies. It may reflect differing levels ofconsensus andvetting.

Biography articles follow particular rules for consistency and ease of use.

When editing biographies:
DO:
Use the subject'scommon name as thearticle title.
Statevital years in the lead, after the subject's name.
Identifykey information in thefirst paragraph.
Usefull name in the first sentence, andsurname after.
Follow the guidance forliving persons as needed.
Write in the appropriatetense.
Put{{authority control}} at the foot; add IDs inWikidata.


DON'T:
Don't create pages for people whoare not notable.
Don'tpromote the subject.
Don't rely onunreliable sources.
Don't make statements that will becomeout of date.
Don't giveundue weight to traits unrelated tonotability.
Don't usetitles orhonorifics with the subject's name.
Don't add the page toinappropriate categories.
