TheWhitneyan North American Stage on thegeologic timescale is the North Americanfaunal stage according to theNorth American Land Mammal Ages chronology (NALMA), typically set from 33,300,000 to 30,800,000 yearsBP, a period of2.5 million years.[1] It is usually considered to fall within theEarly Oligocene. The Whitneyan is preceded by theOrellan and followed by theArikareean NALMA stages.
The Whitneyan is interchangeable with theRupelian age.[2]
